Retell AI Alternatives in 2026: Per-Minute Prices Compared, With Sources

In short

The best Retell AI alternatives depend on how you want the bill shaped. Bland folds the model into one talk rate from $0.12 a minute; Vapi charges $0.05 a minute plus provider pass-through; Autocalls bundles minutes into plans from $34 a month; Synthflow sells enterprise contracts from $30,000 a year. Retell itself runs $0.07 to $0.31 a minute by component, with its own estimator at $0.11.

The best Retell AI alternatives depend on how you want the bill shaped. Bland folds the model into one talk rate from $0.12 a minute; Vapi charges a $0.05-a-minute hosting fee and passes every provider through at cost; Autocalls bundles minutes into plans from $34 a month with no code; Synthflow sells enterprise contracts from $30,000 a year. Retell itself runs $0.07 to $0.31 a minute assembled from components, with its own estimator at $0.11. I run Paramount Exposure, which builds consented voice agents for clients and is a buyer of this category rather than a platform in it; the head-to-head is on Retell vs Paramount, and I rank nobody here.

Every price was read from the vendor's own page on 2026-10-14 and linked in its row. In this category the per-minute number is the whole argument, so the shape of the bill, flat, component or pass-through, matters more than the headline figure.

What Retell actually sells, at its published price

Retell's pitch is "true pay as you go": a voice-agent platform billed per second, including silence and hold, where the minute price is the sum of the parts you choose. On 2026-10-14 the page lists the Retell voice engine at $0.055 a minute on every call; telephony through Twilio or Telnyx at $0.015 (free with your own SIP trunk); text-to-speech at $0.015 for standard voices, rising to $0.04 for ElevenLabs Flash and $0.10 for its top models; and a language model from $0.008 a minute (GPT-5 mini) through $0.04 (GPT-5) to $0.08 (Claude Sonnet, GPT-5 Fast), with speech-to-speech models at $0.07 to $0.38. The page's estimator example, $0.04 model plus $0.055 engine plus $0.015 TTS, lands at $0.11 a minute. Add-ons are $0.005 a minute each for knowledge base, denoising and guardrails, $0.01 for PII removal, $0.005 a dial for batch calling and $0.10 per outbound call for branded caller ID. The first 20 concurrent calls are free, then $8 a month each; numbers are $2 a month; chat agents from $0.002 a message; Enterprise is quoted (retellai.com/pricing).

What it is good at: control. You choose every model and pay for seconds. A builder who knows what a call should cost can hit a low all-in rate; a builder who turns on ElevenLabs' best voice and a premium model will pay four times that. The number to compare against the alternatives is your own build's all-in minute, not the $0.07 headline.

When to look elsewhere

  1. You want one number on the invoice. Component billing is precise and hard to forecast. If finance wants a flat rate, Bland prints one.
  2. You want the lowest platform fee and will manage providers yourself. Vapi's hosting fee is $0.05; everything else is at cost.
  3. Nobody on your side will build. Retell is a platform. Autocalls is no-code, and the managed vendors do the building.
  4. The leads are inbound web inquiries, not calls. A voice platform does not fix a form that waits until morning; the $497 responder below does, and it never books.

The alternatives, by lane

Flat talk rate: Bland

Bland publishes two tiers and one rate each: Start at $0 a month and $0.14 a minute (10 concurrent calls, 100 calls a day, one voice), Build at $299 a month and $0.12 a minute (50 concurrent, 2,000 calls a day, five voices), transfers at $0.05 and $0.04 a minute, Enterprise quoted with on-prem, BAA and data residency. The model, speech-to-text and text-to-speech are inside the rate; telephony is separate at pass-through (bland.ai/pricing, 2026-10-14). Fit: a team that wants a predictable bill at moderate volume. The $499-a-month "Scale" tier that some alternatives pages cite is not on the page today.

Lowest platform fee: Vapi

Vapi charges $0.05 a minute to host the agent and passes speech-to-text (Deepgram about $0.01), model (OpenAI $0.008 to $0.045), text-to-speech (ElevenLabs $0.015 to $0.024) and telephony (Twilio $0.014 outbound, Telnyx $0.0055) through at the provider's price; the calculator puts 1,000 minutes at $82 to $129 all-in. Core is $29 a month for ten concurrent calls, Pro from $999 a month for 30 with a 99% uptime SLA, Premier quoted, HIPAA add-on $2,000 a month (vapi.ai/pricing, 2026-10-14). Fit: engineering teams comfortable holding four provider accounts.

No-code plans: Autocalls, GoHighLevel

Autocalls bundles minutes: Starter $34 a month for 120 minutes ($0.20 overage), Pro $129 for 700 ($0.16), Agency $249 for 1,700 and Agency White Label $419 for 3,500, both at $0.09 a minute, numbers from $3.99 (autocalls.ai/pricing, 2026-10-14). Fit: agencies reselling voice agents without a codebase. GoHighLevel's Voice AI is $0.045 a minute on the engine plus text-to-speech, tokens and phone charges, or inside the $97 unlimited AI Employee per sub-account (AI pricing); fit only for businesses already on the platform.

Enterprise contract: Synthflow

Synthflow's page shows one Enterprise plan from $30,000 a year with SLA, SIP, custom concurrency and a DPA, and no per-minute rate (synthflow.ai/pricing, 2026-10-14). Fit: contact-centre volume with procurement.

Managed agents: 11x Julian, MyNewStaff Brooke

11x's Julian answers inbound calls and chats from $5,333 a month for voice and $2,417 for chat, billed annually and metered in calls (11x Julian pricing); MyNewStaff's Brooke is a managed outbound caller from $997 a month for 500 voice minutes and $0.25 a minute above (their Brooke page); both 2026-10-14. Fit: buyers who want the vendor to build and run the agent.

Consented voice in your own accounts: Paramount

Described below. Paramount builds its clients' agents on Retell, in a Retell workspace registered to the client, with the consent, disclosure, hours and opt-out rules enforced in the agent itself, and runs it; the component charges stay visible in the client's own account.

The law every voice platform leaves to you

Not legal advice; counsel reviews every script before the first dial. No per-minute rate above includes compliance, and the platform cannot make a call lawful.

Since the FCC's February 2024 ruling an AI-generated voice is an "artificial or prerecorded voice" under the TCPA (FCC 24-17). A marketing call with one to a cell phone needs prior express written consent naming the seller (47 CFR 64.1200), and the statute has no business-to-business exception; an agent on any of these platforms dialing the cell numbers or residential lines on a purchased list is unlawful without that consent, and business landlines sit outside that rule but inside the Telemarketing Sales Rule, state law and the identification and opt-out duties that follow. Every artificial-voice message must identify the business at the start, give a callback number and offer an automated opt-out within two seconds (47 CFR 64.1200(b)); opt-outs by any reasonable means are honoured within ten business days (FCC 24-24); lists are scrubbed against the registry inside 31 days on each seller's own subscription (FTC DNC Q&A). Maine requires clear notice when an AI voice could be mistaken for a person (10 M.R.S. 1500-DD); the FCC has proposed a federal at-call disclosure (FCC 24-84); all-party recording states need "this call is recorded" at the top (RCFP recording guide). Ringless voicemail is a call (FCC 22-85). In the UK an automated marketing call to a business needs that business's prior consent (PECR regulation 19).

Retell's branded-caller-ID and batch-calling add-ons, Bland's transfer rate and Vapi's provider list are all features for building inside those rules. Budget the build.

Where Paramount fits, honestly

Paramount Exposure is an AI development and software agency. It is not a voice platform and does not compete with Retell on price per minute; it is a customer of this category, building its clients' agents on Retell inside the rules above. The work is on the AI appointment setting service page, the AI SDR page and the AI lead generation page.

The Speed-to-Lead Caller is a $297-a-month add-on to the $497 AI Lead Responder, including 200 minutes and $0.25 a minute after: when a form or booking-page submission arrives carrying the consent language we supply, the AI calls within 60 seconds, says it is an AI assistant in its first sentence, confirms the inquiry and sends the booking link by SMS or email. It calls nobody who has not consented. The responder itself answers website inquiries in under 60 seconds and sends people to the booking link; it never books.

For outbound, the Outbound Install at $2,500, delivered in 14 days, builds the agent for business landlines and consented numbers with the disclosure fixed, a number with branded caller ID, recording-consent handling by state, calling hours by recipient time zone and opt-out propagation across every channel, beside the email infrastructure in your name. The Outbound Engine runs it at $2,500 a month (up to 1,000 dials and 500 minutes) or $5,000 (4,000 dials and 2,000 minutes), minutes above the tier at $0.25, three-month minimum, a 45-day exit. You own the workspace, the number, the prompts, the recordings and the transcripts. We guarantee the inputs, dials and minutes as stated, scrubs logged, replies answered in under 60 seconds, with any missed month credited. AI voice calls go only to business landlines, after a wireless and Do Not Call scrub removes every cell number, and to people who gave prior express written consent; the agent says it is an AI in its first sentence. We do not guarantee meetings and have run this for no client yet; the first client will be Paramount itself, and the weekly numbers from our own campaign will be published, misses included, at /outbound/proof. The free Intake Index scores your inquiry handling first; the outbound tiers are on the AI SDR service page, the Speed-to-Lead Caller on the AI appointment setting page, and the responder on the pricing page.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Retell AI cost per minute?

$0.07 to $0.31 a minute all-in on 2026-10-14, assembled from a $0.055 voice engine, a model from $0.008 to $0.08, text-to-speech from $0.015 and telephony at $0.015; the page's own estimator example is $0.11 a minute. Billing is per second, the first 20 concurrent calls are free and Enterprise is quoted.

What is the cheapest alternative to Retell?

By platform fee, Vapi at $0.05 a minute plus providers at cost; by all-in flat rate, Bland at $0.12 a minute on the $299 Build tier or $0.14 on the free tier; by bundled plan, Autocalls at $34 a month for 120 minutes (all per the vendors' pages, 2026-10-14). Your own build's all-in minute on Retell is the number to compare, not the headline.

Is Bland cheaper than Retell?

It depends on the build. Bland's $0.12 to $0.14 includes the model and text-to-speech; Retell's estimator build is $0.11 before telephony and premium voices, and a build with a top ElevenLabs voice and a premium model can pass $0.30. Model a real month on each before deciding.

Can an AI voice agent legally make sales calls?

Only to numbers with prior express written consent for that seller, or to business landlines, with the AI disclosed in the first sentence, a callback number, an automated opt-out, a registry scrub and calling hours enforced. An AI voice on a cold list of cell phones violates the TCPA under the FCC's February 2024 ruling, whatever platform it runs on.
