The best Bland AI alternatives depend on whether you want a lower rate or a differently shaped bill. Retell bills by component from $0.07 a minute, with its own estimator at $0.11; Vapi charges a $0.05-a-minute hosting fee and passes providers through at cost; Autocalls bundles minutes into no-code plans from $34 a month; Synthflow sells enterprise contracts from $30,000 a year. Bland itself is $0.14 a minute on its free Start tier and $0.12 on Build at $299 a month. I run Paramount Exposure, which builds consented voice agents for clients and buys from this category rather than competing in it; the head-to-head is on Bland vs Paramount, and I rank nobody.

Every price was read from the vendor's own page on 2026-10-14 and linked in its row. One correction to the pages ranking for this query: the $499-a-month "Scale" tier at $0.11 a minute that they attribute to Bland is not on Bland's pricing page today.

What Bland actually sells, at its published price

Bland's pitch is "clear pricing across every call": no token charges, no model-provider pass-throughs. On 2026-10-14 the page shows two self-serve tiers and an enterprise one. Start is $0 a month with a $0.14-a-minute talk rate and $0.05 a minute on transfers; it includes two credits, an inbound number, ten concurrent calls, 100 calls a day, one voice and ten knowledge bases. Build is $299 a month at $0.12 a minute and $0.04 on transfers, with 50 concurrent calls, 2,000 calls a day, five voices and 50 knowledge bases. Both carry a 99.9% uptime SLA. The language model, speech-to-text and text-to-speech are inside the talk rate; telephony is billed separately, through your own carrier or Bland's at pass-through. Enterprise is "contracted to your volume" with negotiated rates, on-prem or VPC deployment, a BAA, SSO, data residency and forward-deployed engineers (bland.ai/pricing).

What it is good at: predictability. A finance team can forecast a Bland bill from minutes alone, and the free tier lets a builder prove an agent before paying a platform fee. If a flat rate is the requirement and your volume sits inside Build's limits, Bland is a sound choice, and the rest of this article will say so where it is true.

When to look elsewhere

  1. Your build would be cheaper by component. A simple agent on a small model costs less on Retell or Vapi than $0.12 a minute; a rich one costs more. Model it.
  2. You need concurrency beyond 50 without an enterprise contract. Autocalls' Agency tier prints 500 concurrent calls at $249 a month.
  3. Nobody on your side will build. Bland is a platform. The managed vendors and Paramount do the building.
  4. Your leads are inbound web inquiries. A voice platform does not fix a form that waits until morning. The $497 responder below does, and it never books.

The alternatives, by lane

Component billing: Retell

Retell prices each part: a $0.055 voice engine on every minute, telephony at $0.015 (free with your own SIP), text-to-speech from $0.015 for standard voices to $0.10 for ElevenLabs' top models, and a language model from $0.008 to $0.08 a minute, for an all-in range of $0.07 to $0.31; the page's estimator lands at $0.11. Billing is per second, 20 concurrent calls are free, batch calling adds $0.005 a dial, branded caller ID $0.10 a call, Enterprise quoted (retellai.com/pricing, 2026-10-14). Fit: a builder who will tune the model and voice to the use case and wants to pay only for what the call used.

Pass-through: Vapi

Vapi's hosting fee is $0.05 a minute; speech-to-text, model, text-to-speech and telephony are billed at the provider's price, and the page's calculator puts 1,000 minutes at $82 to $129 all-in. Plans: $0 with $5 credit and four concurrent calls, Core $29 a month for ten, Pro from $999 a month for 30 with a 99% SLA, Premier quoted, HIPAA add-on $2,000 a month (vapi.ai/pricing, 2026-10-14). Fit: engineering teams that want the lowest platform fee and will hold the provider accounts.

No-code plans: Autocalls, GoHighLevel

Autocalls bundles minutes into plans: Starter $34 a month for 120 minutes ($0.20 overage, three concurrent), Pro $129 for 700 ($0.16, ten concurrent), Agency $249 for 1,700 (500 concurrent) and Agency White Label $419 for 3,500 (1,000 concurrent, own branding, Stripe rebilling), the agency tiers at $0.09 a minute, numbers from $3.99 (autocalls.ai/pricing, 2026-10-14). Fit: agencies reselling voice agents without code. GoHighLevel's Voice AI is $0.045 a minute on the engine plus text-to-speech, tokens and phone charges, or inside the $97 unlimited AI Employee per sub-account (AI pricing); only for businesses already on the platform.

Enterprise contract: Synthflow

Synthflow shows one plan, Enterprise from $30,000 a year with SLA, SIP, custom concurrency and a DPA, and publishes no per-minute rate (synthflow.ai/pricing, 2026-10-14). Fit: contact-centre volume with procurement behind it.

Managed agents: 11x Julian, MyNewStaff Brooke

11x's Julian answers inbound calls and chats from $5,333 a month for voice and $2,417 for chat, billed annually, metered in calls (11x Julian pricing); MyNewStaff's Brooke is a managed outbound caller from $997 a month for 500 voice minutes and $0.25 a minute above, with a $1,997 setup fee implied by "setup FREE" (their Brooke page); both 2026-10-14. Fit: buyers who want the vendor to build and run the agent and accept the bill scaling with volume.

Consented voice in your own accounts: Paramount

Described below. The agent is built in the client's workspace with the consent check, disclosure, hours and opt-out enforced inside it, run for the client, and owned by the client.

The law every voice platform leaves to you

Not legal advice; counsel reviews every script before the first dial. No talk rate above includes compliance, and no platform can make a call lawful.

Since the FCC's February 2024 ruling an AI-generated voice is an "artificial or prerecorded voice" under the TCPA (FCC 24-17). A marketing call with one to a cell phone needs prior express written consent naming the seller (47 CFR 64.1200); the statute has no business-to-business exception, so an agent dialing the cell numbers or residential lines on a purchased list is unlawful without that consent on every platform here; business landlines sit outside that rule but inside the Telemarketing Sales Rule, state law and the identification and opt-out duties that follow. Every artificial-voice message must identify the business at the start, give a callback number and offer an automated opt-out within two seconds (47 CFR 64.1200(b)); opt-outs by any reasonable means are honoured within ten business days (FCC 24-24); lists are scrubbed inside 31 days on each seller's own registry subscription (FTC DNC Q&A). Maine requires clear notice when an AI voice could be mistaken for a person (10 M.R.S. 1500-DD); Utah gives a safe harbour to agents that disclose at the outset (SB 226); the FCC has proposed a federal at-call disclosure (FCC 24-84). All-party recording states need "this call is recorded" at the top (RCFP recording guide). Florida (Fla. Stat. 501.616(6)), Oklahoma (15 O.S. 775C.3) and Maryland (Md. Comm. Law 14-4502) cap sales calls at three a day between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.; Connecticut requires written consent for every consumer sales call (chapter 743m). In the UK an automated marketing call to a business needs that business's prior consent (PECR regulation 19).

Bland's transfer rate, Retell's branded caller ID and Vapi's provider list are tools for building inside those rules. Budget the build and the counsel review alongside the minutes.

Where Paramount fits, honestly

Paramount Exposure is an AI development and software agency. It is not a voice platform; it builds agents for clients inside the rules above and runs them. The work is on the AI appointment setting service page, the AI SDR page and the AI lead generation page.

The Speed-to-Lead Caller is a $297-a-month add-on to the $497 AI Lead Responder, including 200 minutes and $0.25 a minute after: when a form or booking-page submission arrives carrying the consent language we supply, the AI calls within 60 seconds, says it is an AI assistant in its first sentence, confirms the inquiry and sends the booking link by SMS or email. It calls nobody who has not consented. The responder itself answers website inquiries in under 60 seconds and sends people to the booking link; it never books.

For outbound, the Outbound Install at $2,500, delivered in 14 days, builds the agent for business landlines and consented numbers with the disclosure fixed, a number with branded caller ID, recording-consent handling by state, calling hours by recipient time zone and opt-out propagation across every channel, beside the email infrastructure in your name. The Outbound Engine runs it at $2,500 a month (up to 1,000 dials and 500 minutes) or $5,000 (4,000 dials and 2,000 minutes), minutes above the tier at $0.25, three-month minimum, a 45-day exit. You own the workspace, the number, the prompts, the recordings and the transcripts. We guarantee the inputs, dials and minutes as stated, scrubs logged, replies answered in under 60 seconds, with any missed month credited. AI voice calls go only to business landlines, after a wireless and Do Not Call scrub removes every cell number, and to people who gave prior express written consent; the agent says it is an AI in its first sentence. We do not guarantee meetings and have run this for no client yet; the first client will be Paramount itself, and the weekly numbers from our own campaign will be published, misses included, at /outbound/proof. The free Intake Index scores your inquiry handling first; the outbound tiers are on the AI SDR service page, the Speed-to-Lead Caller on the AI appointment setting page, and the responder on the pricing page.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Bland AI cost?

On 2026-10-14, Start is $0 a month at $0.14 a minute with ten concurrent calls, Build is $299 a month at $0.12 a minute with 50 concurrent calls, and Enterprise is contracted to volume. The model, speech-to-text and text-to-speech are inside the rate; telephony is separate. No $499 Scale tier appears on the page.

What is the cheapest alternative to Bland?

By platform fee, Vapi at $0.05 a minute plus providers at cost; by component build, Retell's estimator at $0.11 a minute; by bundled plan, Autocalls at $34 a month for 120 minutes, or $0.09 a minute on its $249 Agency tier (all per the vendors' pages, 2026-10-14). The cheapest rate on a list that cannot lawfully be called is the most expensive option on the page.

Is Retell better than Bland?

Neither is better; they bill differently. Bland prints one flat rate and includes the model; Retell lets you choose every component and pay per second, which is cheaper for a lean build and dearer for a rich one. A team that wants a forecastable bill leans Bland; a builder who tunes models leans Retell.

Can I use Bland or an alternative for cold calling?

Not to consumers' cell phones without their prior express written consent. Since February 2024 an AI voice is an artificial voice under the TCPA, with no B2B exception in the statute. Lawful shapes are calls to people who consented on your own forms, calls to business landlines, and AI assisting a human who dials, with the AI disclosed, the registry scrubbed and opt-outs honoured.
