Mangomint Alternatives for Med Spas and Salons
The Mangomint alternatives worth pricing in 2026 depend on which gap you are closing: a peer platform such as Boulevard, Vagaro, GlossGenius or Fresha if your complaint is Mangomint's price or feature mix; a staffed answering service such as Smith.ai or Ruby if the gap is a phone that rings through treatments; and a one-time responder install if your booking software is fine and the leak is the website inquiry nobody answers at 9 p.m. Mangomint itself remains the right buy for a med spa or salon that wants one platform for the calendar, register, forms and memberships and has a front desk to run it.
A disclosure first: I run Paramount Exposure, and the responder install is mine. I have also published a direct Mangomint comparison that says plainly where Mangomint wins, so what follows has no rankings, only categories, published pricing, and who each option suits.
What Mangomint is actually good at
Mangomint is practice management for beauty and wellness: calendar and online booking, point of sale, forms and charting, memberships, retail and inventory, staff, reporting and multi-location support in one system. Since August 1, 2026 it costs $120 per month per location plus $10 per month per user, with Forms and Charting, web chat, Express Booking, memberships, the Virtual Waiting Room and HIPAA support with a business associate agreement included (per their pricing page and their August 2026 pricing notice, 2026-09-25). Three add-ons remain: Phone at $70 per month per line, Marketing from $30 per month, and Payroll at $50 per month plus $8 per worker. Onboarding and data transfer are free, there are no contracts, and you can cancel at any time.
The front-desk tooling is well built. Express Booking lets a staff member text a client a link to add a card and accept the cancellation policy. The Phone add-on gives one number for calls and texts, call recordings and transcripts, and an automated text follow-up when a call goes to voicemail. Web chat lets your team answer website visitors in real time and lets a visitor leave a phone number to be contacted directly. Automated Flows, part of the Marketing add-on, send emails and texts when an event fires: a service booked, a form submitted, a member's services about to expire (per their Express Booking, Phone and Automated Flows feature pages and web chat help pages, 2026-09-25).
Notice the shape: each of those tools either follows a booking or hands the conversation to a person at the desk. Mangomint sits inside the practice, and it is excellent there. Most alternative searches are about what happens in front of it.
When should you look for a Mangomint alternative?
Four specific situations.
The phone rings through treatments and after close, and the missed-call text is the only answer. Mangomint's Phone add-on texts callers whose call went to voicemail to say you got their message. That is better than silence, but it is not an answer to the question they called with. If many new-client calls land in that gap, you are shopping in the answering category, human or AI, not practice management.
New clients arrive by form, web chat and Instagram DM, often after hours, and nothing qualifies them. Web chat in Mangomint is your staff answering in real time; outside business hours, the visitor is told you are closed and can leave a number to be contacted when you open (per Mangomint's web chat help pages, 2026-09-25). The person comparing three spas at 9:40 p.m. may well book with whichever one replies first, and a booking widget takes an appointment rather than asking which area, whether they have had the treatment before, or whether an event is driving the timeline. That is a response problem more than a booking problem, though some platforms now sell AI add-ons aimed at it: Fresha says its AI Concierge answers calls and messages, and Zenoti lists an AI Lead Manager that it says qualifies leads across channels (per Fresha's pricing page and Zenoti's AI Lead Manager page, 2026-09-25).
The per-user math no longer fits your headcount. Mangomint counts everyone with a profile as a user, front desk included (per their August 2026 pricing notice, 2026-09-25), so a spa with twelve users across two locations pays $360 per month before add-ons ($240 in location fees plus $120 in user fees). Peers price the same team differently (Boulevard per location with unlimited professionals above its entry tier, Vagaro per calendar up to seven, Fresha per team member), so the same headcount can come out higher or lower elsewhere: a quote worth getting, not a reason to leave the category.
You are a solo studio, or a group with dozens of sites. Vagaro, GlossGenius and Fresha all publish entry plans at $30 per month or less; at the other end, Zenoti does not publish prices and tailors multi-location pricing to the footprint.
Staffed answering services: Smith.ai and Ruby
This category does not replace Mangomint; it puts a person on the phone you cannot answer, and it fits only the first situation above.
Smith.ai sells live-staffed receptionists around the clock, with lead screening, qualification and intake included: $300 per month for 30 calls, $810 for 90 and $2,100 for 300, with per-call overage from $11.50 down to $8.50 by plan, billed month to month (per their pricing page, 2026-09-25). Ruby prices by receptionist minute, from $250 per month for 50 minutes to $1,725 for 500, with live chat plans from $143 per month and 24/7 coverage on every plan (per their pricing page, 2026-09-25).
Who they suit: the spa whose new clients call, whose desk is in a treatment room when they do, and whose callers want a human voice. The trade-offs are structural: cost scales with volume; unless you add scheduling (Smith.ai lists appointment booking at $1.50 per call, and Ruby lists scheduling as an optional feature), the deliverable is a screened call or a message that still lands on your desk; and the receptionist plans answer calls, with Ruby selling website chat as a separate plan from $143 per month. Longer pieces on Smith.ai alternatives, Ruby alternatives and what an answering service costs cover that lane.
Platform software you operate: the peer booking platforms
The like-for-like swap: another booking and front-desk platform, run by your own team.
Boulevard publishes two sets of plans (per their pricing page, 2026-09-25). For salons and spas, billed monthly: Essentials at $159 per month for up to five providers, Premier at $260 per month per location (normally $325) and Prestige at $364 per month per location (normally $455). For med spas: Aesthetics Essentials at $199 per month for up to three professionals, Aesthetics Premier at $364 per month per location (normally $455) and Aesthetics Prestige at $416 per month per location (normally $520), each listing forms and charting and HIPAA compliance. The reduced Premier and Prestige prices are a limited-time offer for new customers, and annual billing takes about 10% off (salon Essentials is $143 per month billed annually). On the salon plans, Forms is an add-on from $65 per month per location, included in Prestige. It also sells Beau, an AI receptionist for the phone, at $125 per month per location for 200 minutes and $0.60 per minute after that; it answers calls, handles questions about hours, menu and cancellation policy, sends a booking link, and takes a message after hours (per their AI receptionist page, 2026-09-25). Best for the spa that wants per-location pricing with unlimited professionals (every tier above Essentials) and an AI phone answer in the same platform.
Vagaro publishes $30 per month for one bookable calendar, $23.99 promotional for the first six months, plus $10 for each additional calendar up to seven, then more staff at no charge, with a 30-day free trial (per their pricing page, 2026-09-25). Best for small teams wanting a low entry price and the marketplace listing.
GlossGenius publishes Standard at $28, Gold at $56 and Platinum at $168 per month, plus two medspa tiers, Practice Essentials at $168 and Practice Advanced at $298 per month, with a flat 2.6% processing rate and a 14-day trial (per their pricing page, 2026-09-25). Best for solos, small studios and aesthetics practices wanting flat-price EMR essentials.
Fresha publishes $19.95 per month for an independent and $14.95 per team member per month for teams, takes a one-time 20% commission (minimum $6) on new clients booked through its marketplace, and sells an AI Concierge add-on, which it says answers calls and messages, at $99.95 per location per month with 200 minutes and 500 messages included (per their pricing page, 2026-09-25). Best for the lowest fixed cost, paying per marketplace new client.
Zenoti does not publish pricing; it is quoted on request, and multi-location pricing is customized to the footprint (per their pricing page, 2026-09-25). Best for multi-location groups that want pricing built around their footprint; Zenoti says it serves everything from single locations to enterprise franchises.
GoHighLevel is a CRM and marketing-automation platform rather than a spa booking system, though it includes appointment scheduling: $97, $297 or $497 per month, an AI Employee add-on at $50 or $97 per month per sub-account, a 14-day trial and month-to-month billing (per their pricing page, 2026-09-25). Best for the hands-on operator who will build and own the automations.
The catch across the category applies to Mangomint too: you are buying capacity, not an outcome. Someone at the spa configures the flows, writes the messages and watches the inbox, or nobody does, and switching platforms migrates that vacancy with the client list.
The own-it install: a responder in front of your booking software
The alternative I sell, and not really a Mangomint alternative, because it sits on your website and hands leads to your booking link rather than replacing the software behind it. Paramount's AI Lead Responder is $497, one time, no retainer. It answers every inquiry that reaches your website in under 60 seconds, around the clock, qualifies it, answers intake questions in your practice's voice, and routes the lead to your booking link, your email, or both. It is tuned to your business before it goes live, nothing answers in your name until you have approved what it says, and it is live within 48 hours of checkout. It never gives advice, medical or otherwise. Your phone lines stay as they are, and you own the install.
The scope is narrow, and you should weigh that. It does not answer the phone, so the spa in the first situation still needs Smith.ai, Ruby or an AI phone add-on. It does not book the appointment itself or replace Mangomint, Boulevard or any peer; it answers on your website and routes the lead to your booking link, your email, or both. Its case is the website half of the second situation: the form, the chat and the after-hours website inquiry that would otherwise wait until someone is back at the desk. It answers what reaches your website, not the Instagram DM.
For the spa whose gap runs wider, the full $497 credits toward any larger install booked within 30 days: the $2,500 Revenue Leak Audit, the $5,000 Digital Estate or the AI Revenue System, with every number on the ladder published on the pricing page.

How to decide in one sitting
Three tests, all in one afternoon. Pull one month of new-client inquiries and sort them by channel and by hour; the split between phone, form, chat and DM, and between business hours and evenings, tells you which category you are in. Call your own front desk during a Thursday rush and count the rings. Submit your own website form at 9 p.m. on a Saturday and time the reply.
If the first test is phone-heavy and the second is embarrassing, price Smith.ai and Ruby against the AI phone add-ons, such as Boulevard's Beau or Fresha's AI Concierge, each tied to its own platform. If your complaint is the bill or a missing feature, get one peer quote and compare it with Mangomint's current per-location price, since the August 2026 change may already have moved your number. If the third test comes back Monday morning, you do not have a Mangomint problem but a response problem, and the fix to price first is a responder on your website rather than a platform migration.
The head-to-head, including where Mangomint simply wins, is at Paramount vs Mangomint; the responder, with its process and hard lines, is at AI Lead Responder; and the wider med spa intake picture is on the med spa page and in choosing an AI receptionist for a med spa. Whatever you pick, run the three tests first. They cost nothing, and they tell you which category you are shopping in.
